The use of e-cigarettes and Vaping, in adolescents and young adults is associated with an increased risk of Covid-19 infection, according to a new US scientific study.
The study, analyzed data from young people who tested for coronavirus in the United States, and discovered that those who were vaporizers were five to seven times more likely to become infected with the virus than those who were not e-cigarette users.
The researchers, led by Bonnie Halpern-Felser, a professor of pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine in California, studied data on 4,351 people aged 13 to 24 and published it in the Journal of Adolescent Health. As Halpern-Felser said, “teens and young adults should be aware that if they use e-cigarettes, they are more likely to be at immediate risk of Covid-19 because they damage their lungs.”
New study shows that young people who smoke or are dual users – vaporizers and smokers – have an increased risk of coronavirus infection and disease.
The study found that those who smoked and smoked e-cigarettes at the same time for the past 30 days were almost five times more likely to develop Covid-19 symptoms (cough, fever, fatigue, shortness of breath, etc.) and almost three times more likely to be tested for Covid. -19. Among those tested, vaporizers were five times more likely to be diagnosed with Covid-19 than non-vaporizers. Also, users of both electronic and traditional cigarettes in the past 30 days were almost seven times more likely to be diagnosed with Covid-19.
