Chronic sinusitis is a long-lasting sinus inflammation and infection. The sinuses can become infected when they are blocked and filled with fluid, causing nasal blockage, facial pain and headaches. EY-LLLT or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has a strong immunosuppressive effect. The main mechanisms include apoptosis of T lymphocytes and eosinophils, reduction in dendritic cell count and function, and induction of immunoregulatory cytokines such as IL-10 . EY-LLLT also generates heat in addition to light. Heat can regulate the blood supply to the mucosa and the release of histamine .
