Presentation of lesions
The lesions are characterized by single or multiple rounded, shallow, oral ulcers which cause moderate to intense pain and heal within 10-14 days.
Treatment of Aphthous Ulcers
In fact, the oral lesions normally heal automatically within 7-14 days. Due to the indeterminate aetiology of these lesions, it is often difficult to find a definitive cure, so therefore treatment regimes consist of topical pain relief medication and vitamins to boost the
immune system. Futhremore, corticosteroid, antiviral therapy analgesic and anaesthetic agents may be prescribed. Lastly, antibiotics, multivitamins, cauterization, topical ablation and a variety of combined therapies may be suggested.
EY-LLLLT, applied at EYiasis medical center, is an effective modality for the treatment of aphthous ulcers. Not only does EY-LLLT reduce the healing time, it also provides immediate pain relief. Since Laser Therapy provides very efficient anti- inflammatory responses in addition to oedema reduction, pain reduction and cellular biostimulation, it constitutes an alternative to adequately modulate these lesions.
