Photobiomodulation Therapy: How it works.
Laser therapy with EY-LLLT is a medical treatment that uses focused light to stimulate a process called photobiomodulation.
During EY-LLLT photons enter the tissue and interact with the cytochrome c complex within the mitochondria of the cells. Thus, this interaction triggers a biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism, which can decrease pain as well as accelerate the healing process.
Photobiomodulation is a non-thermal process involving endogenous chromophores eliciting photophysical and photochemical events at various biological scales.
This process, therefore, results in beneficial therapeutic outcomes including but not limited to:
- the alleviation of pain, immunomodulation, and
- promotion of wound healing and
- tissue regeneration.
